Harnham Water Meadows Trust
The Harnham Water Meadows are 84 acres of beautiful and historic land to the south west of Salisbury managed by the Harnham Water Meadows Trust; a group of volunteers who maintain and promote the meadows, and conserve the natural diversity of wildlife. The meadows are designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
Salisbury Area Greenspace Partnership (SAGP)
A community-led initiative. At the launch in 2012 a wide range of people with an interest in greenspace were brought together and provided the mandate for setting up an informal partnership.
Wiltshire Wildlife Trust was founded in 1962, driven by a concern to protect local wildlife and natural habitats. Today, we manage over 40 nature reserves across the county, including wetland, woodland, meadow and chalk downland habitats.
This gallery illustrates the construction and establishment of the Harnham Middle Street Meadow flood defences, including the excavation of a new pond habitat to ameliorate the effects of run-off from the Churchfields Industrial Estate into the River Nadder.
This work forms part of the Harnham Flood Defence Scheme near Salisbury which has been designed to provide flood protection for around 400 local properties up to a 1 in 200 year flood event. This website is an ongoing project.
